We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic / Diagnostic Specialist to join our busy, highly respected independent garage team in Barry. We offer a £35,000–£40,000 basic salary, permanent Monday-to-Friday hours (08:00–17:30, strictly no weekends), and a supportive, non-corporate environment where your skills are genuinely valued.

Your Role

As a vital member of our Barry technical team, you will:

  • Carry out routine vehicle servicing
    , brake overhauls, clutch replacements, timing belts, and general mechanical repairs.
  • Utilize modern diagnostic equipment to accurately troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and engine management faults.
  • Maintain high standards of work to ensure reliable "first-time fix" results and high workshop productivity.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a skilled team to keep workflow smooth and uphold customer trust.
What You Need
  • Qualifications &

    Experience:

    NVQ / IMI Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time‑served experience). Proven track record as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic in a professional workshop setting. F‑Gas certification is preferred (or an interest in obtaining it).
  • Licensing: Full UK driving licence is essential.
    An active MOT Tester licence is preferred but not required.
  • Equipment & Mindset: Must possess your own hand tools; bring high attention to detail, strong fault‑finding abilities, and a reliable work ethic.
