Applications for Part‑Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching online and at off‑campus sites located at Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.
Requirements- Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education.
- OR bachelor’s in any of the above and Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies; or the equivalent.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
Barstow Community College offers health care benefits to benefit‑eligible employees. Part‑time faculty/short‑term temporary workers are not eligible for the District's benefits cap. However, part‑time faculty who have obtained preferred rehire status and have taught or served an average of at least 40% of a full‑time faculty load for the past two academic semesters (Fall and Spring) may apply for and shall be entitled to reimbursement pro‑rated based on load or minimum of 50% of the District benefits cap.
