Part‑Time Assignments
We are looking for part‑time (up to 67%) instructors for substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments as needed.
AssignmentApplications for Part‑Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching online and at off‑campus sites located at Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication
OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English OR the equivalent.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
All coursework and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

BenefitsBarstow Community College offers health care benefits to benefits‑eligible employees. Part‑Time Faculty/Short‑Term Temporary workers are not eligible for the District's benefits cap. However, Part‑time faculty who have obtained preferred rehire status and have taught or served an average of at least 40% of a full‑time faculty load for the past two academic semesters (Fall and Spring) may apply for and shall be entitled to reimbursement pro‑rated based on load or minimum of 50% of the District benefits cap.
The Part‑Time faculty member (California Residents only) may always purchase benefits from the Covered California Website, Faculty members interested in receiving more information may contact Human Resources and/or Covered California.
