Part Time Faculty Pool - Communication Studies; Speech Communication

Part‑Time Assignments

We are looking for part‑time (up to 67%) instructors for substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments as needed.

Applications for Part‑Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching online and at off‑campus sites located at Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.

Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication

OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English OR the equivalent.

• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

• Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.

All coursework and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications are encouraged to apply and provide appropriate documentation of their qualifications. Please include the completed equivalency form in your application packet to initiate a request for equivalency to the minimum qualifications within the discipline.

Barstow Community College offers health care benefits to benefits‑eligible employees. Part‑Time Faculty/Short‑Term Temporary workers are not eligible for the District's benefits cap. However, Part‑time faculty who have obtained preferred rehire status and have taught or served an average of at least 40% of a full‑time faculty load for the past two academic semesters (Fall and Spring) may apply for and shall be entitled to reimbursement pro‑rated based on load or minimum of 50% of the District benefits cap.
