The Traveling Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area, overseeing daily field operations on commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, and ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans and specifications. The Traveling Superintendent monitors quality control, conducts site inspections, and collaborates with project managers, owners, and design teams to resolve issues and maintain clear communication.
The role includes maintaining detailed project documentation, leading jobsite meetings, and enforcing compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Travel to various project sites within the region is required to support multiple projects as needed.
- Construction leadership skills, including supervision of field staff, coordination of subcontractors, and management of daily jobsite operations.
- Project planning and scheduling skills, such as reading and interpreting construction drawings, creating and updating schedules, and sequencing work activities.
- Safety and compliance skills, including knowledge of OSHA standards, implementation of safety programs, and enforcement of site safety protocols.
- Quality control and problem-solving skills, including inspecting work for adherence to specifications, identifying issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Communication and collaboration skills, including clear written and verbal communication, conducting meetings, and working effectively with owners, architects, engineers, and vendors.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills for maintaining logs, reports, daily field records, and progress updates.
- Experience as a Superintendent or in a similar field leadership role in commercial or federal construction.
- Proficiency with construction management software, email, and basic office applications; familiarity with digital plans and field technology is beneficial.
- Ability to travel to and work on various project sites within the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area and occasionally beyond.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or a degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
