Your Impact:
We are looking for a personable and confident professional who enjoys working with people! The ideal candidate to join our Visitor Services & Events team is self-motivated, familiar with event management, and passionate about art, nature and culture. We would love a candidate who has experience in the wedding and event industry, but we are willing to train the right person.
The Role:As a Lead Events & Visitor Services Associate, you will work to further the mission of The Trustees and preserve our special place forever by providing superior customer service during each daily visit, program, and event at de Cordova Sculpture Park & Museum. This role has a primary focus supporting Special Events and will be responsible for the safety and security of the site and for late night closing of the buildings and grounds after events.
Specifically,you’ll:
Visitors Service
While working security, at the visitor station, or at the front desk:
- Provide visitors with a warm welcome and offer guidance as needed regarding Park Admissions and way finding.
- Oversee guest interactions with exhibitions in the sculpture park and museum.
- Ensure museum policies are followed and respectfully address errant behavior.
- Welcome all visitors while finding opportunities to generate new memberships through visitor engagement.
While supporting event space preparation, vendor and client relations, and event execution:
- Under direction of Event Manager, prepare and organize event spaces and inventory.
- During events, coordinate with vendors and assistants needed, while ensuring de Cordova standards are in place.
- Act as main facilities contact during event, with thorough knowledge of lights, tents, in-house AV and all event space infrastructure.
- Provide exceptional customer service when working with clients throughout the delivery of their event.
This is a part-time, limited term, nonexempt position working 25 hours per week reporting directly to the Visitor Services & Security Manager.
What You’ll Need:Skills and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 1+ year of experience working with events and facilitating operations. Public facing customer service experience is preferred.
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Some events end at 11pm, shifts may extend to 12am-1am on some weekends.
- Experience with AV systems is preferred.
- Exercise good judgment and decision-making skills, and the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize meeting deadlines is required.
- Effective and concise communication skills, both in person and with written materials.
- Ability to respond to escalated situations and behaviors in a calm and rational manner and think on your feet to solve problems and troubleshoot under pressure.
- Excellent external and internal customer service skills.
- Experience working in catering or facilities management is preferred.
- Must be personable and enjoy working with people using patience, courtesy, and kindness.
