RISE Program Specialist
Location:
605 South 10 St Ste B300, Lincoln, NE 68508. In‑office only.
Position Summary:
The RISE Program Specialist, an Ameri Corps member, facilitates a skill‑based curriculum for adjudicated youth ages 12‑18, delivering instruction in group settings both in person and virtually, with additional individual support as needed. After completion of the curriculum, the member provides up to six months of additional support.
- Teach youth educational‑based skills—including goal setting, motivation, organization, study skills, and test‑taking strategies—using a pre‑written curriculum.
- Host in‑person groups at schools, probation offices, or other community sites.
- Collect and submit school attendance variables to satisfy grant‑defined performance measures.
- Attend Ameri Corps National Service events and specific Nebraska Probation training sessions.
- Engage in additional training throughout the service year, including juvenile justice or education conferences and webinars.
- Completion of 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited institution in social sciences, criminal justice, education, or a related field (work experience may substitute).
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, criminal justice, education or a related field (preferred).
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Ability to submit to a criminal background check, including FBI fingerprinting, National Sex Offender Public Website and state criminal background checks.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Accurate record‑keeping practices.
- Commitment to attend up to 20 hours per week.
- Strong work ethic and passion for volunteerism.
- Effective verbal and written communication with fellow Ameri Corps members, Nebraska State Probation staff, school officials, and community stakeholders.
- Consistent attendance and dependability throughout the service period.
- Living stipend: $1,485.00 monthly ($17,820 annually).
- Segal Education Award: $3,697.50 upon successful completion of the Member’s term of National Service.
- Student loan forbearance and partial payment of accrued interest during the term of service.
- Training in key areas, professional development, and alumni network.
