Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience with kitchen/fine dining room management, supervision, and cooking in hotel or fine dining setting.
  • High school graduate required;
    Associate's degree preferred; prefer advanced education in food & beverage management.
  • Senior Living community experience is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and explain menu, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process across three communities of care, and understand resident requests.
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, coworkers; requires courtesy, tact, and graciousness.
  • High level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Ability to maintain a cheerful attitude and remain flexible under stress at all times.
  • Ability to function as a "team" member in sharing responsibilities in corporation with all departments and members of the teams.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/walk for 70% of the work day (8-hour shift).
  • Ability to independently lift, balance, and carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate full campus.
  • Must be able to maintain mental & visual attention to diversified operations.
  • Ability to function efficiently despite distractions and interruptions.

General

Summary:

The Director of Culinary Services is responsible for the overall production of food for the GCV community; the operations of the GCV main kitchen; the operation of the Independent Living, Assisted Living, & Lakeview Memory Care Dining areas; the selection, training and supervision of the production, preparation, diet aide, utility, and server/wait staff.
