Role Overview
:
The Insulator is responsible for applying insulation to major components on commercial/industrial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, instructions, and bills of material.
  • Sign off on all administrative paperwork upon job completion.
  • Locate necessary equipment, tools, and parts for eachjob.
  • Maneuver around units and sustain awkward positions to accurately adhere insulation using glue.
  • Track insulation usage and communicate with the stockroom.
  • Contribute to team efforts by collaborating with others and accomplishing related functions as needed.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and procedures.
  • Check work for quality and ensure standards are met.
  • Work overtime as necessary and arrive on time.
  • Accurately record time in the attendance system for proper labor distribution and payroll.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions, work independently, stay self-motivated, and complete assignments on time.
  • Care for tools and equipment, and report any maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a clean work area.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience
    : A high school level of education is preferred for upward advancement within the company.
  • Skills
    :
    Effective communication, problem-solving, good listening skills, ability to read and comprehend drawings and instructions, basic mathematical skills (including reading a tape measure to 1/16 inch), equipment operation, performance monitoring, strong teamwork, self-motivation, and multitasking.
  • Certificates, Licenses, or Training
    :
    On-site training provided.
Level/Grade:
  • Beginning level insulator meets minimal quality standards and requires more time than estimated.
  • Proficient level insulator meets quality standards and completes work within estimated hours.
  • Proficient level insulator meets quality standards and completes work in less time than estimated.
Interaction with Others:

Reports to the Final Assembly Supervisor. Must accurately receive and follow instructions from the supervisor. The employee should work cooperatively with all team members, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect.

Work is performed in an industrial production area for a manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. Constant exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, certain chemicals, and high noise levels in some areas. Exposure to extreme temperatures in both winter and summer. Potential stress from meeting deadlines and quality standards. Seasonal variations in work hours based on production demands.
