Food Clerk-Cashier – Part Time – Hourly

• Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
• Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using an electronic cash register, scanner, and scale
• Clean register area by sweeping floors and cleaning check lanes, registers, and scales
• Prevent loss of money and merchandise by careful product handling, accurate pricing, correct produce identification, and proper use of store procedures for coupons, WIC, other vouchers, checks, credit, and debit cards
• Ensure safety for self, customers, and co‑workers by practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any hazard immediately
• Bag customer purchases quickly and correctly
• Understand the operation, safety requirements, and restraints of an electronic cash register, scanner, scale, and intercom system
• Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers, substitute for absent workers, and perform any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers

• Above and Beyond Customer Service
• Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior experience in a related field or industry

• Standing capability, 4 hours minimum
• Move a maximum of 40 lbs. from 6 inches to 48 inches
• Move a maximum of 40 lbs. up to 15 feet
• Pick up items from floor, case, shelf, or cart
• Retrieve merchandise from the top of grocery shelves, approximately 84 inches from the floor
• Bend and twist at the waist while cleaning, moving, removing merchandise, and loading/unloading merchandise

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Cashiers (food clerks) report directly to the Front‑End Manager or Store Manager.

Note:

Inside work with transitions of heat, cold, humidity, and dust from opening of store entrance/exit doors.
