Bartlett Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Since 1988, the veterinarians and staff at Bartlett Animal Hospital have provided high-quality veterinary care to your pets. Our hospital provides cutting-edge veterinary medical technology, advanced surgical procedures and high-tech diagnostic equipment, balanced with old-fashioned care, compassion and respect for our patients and clients. We serve the communities of Bartlett, Streamwood, Elgin, Saint Charles, Carol Stream, West Chicago, Hanover Park, Wayne, South Elgin, Roselle and surrounding areas.

We are looking for a driven animal-loving assistant to join our team and collaborate with doctors and patient care coordinators to make a real difference in the lives of clients and their pets.

The Veterinary Assistant aids and supports the medical support team in the operation of an animal facility in accordance with Mission Pet Health (MPH) hospital policy and procedures. The Veterinary Assistant also provides medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act.

• Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH.
• Assist in all daily duties for clinic care.
• Participate in any special cleaning duties.
• Provide client care by scheduling appointments, taking payments, and check-ins.
• Maintain excellent client communication.
• Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar and terminology.
• Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients. Answer the phones courteously and informatively.
• Provide patient care under the direction of a DVM.
• Perform clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Must be proficient in skills across laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing tasks.
• Ability to stay patient and composed in stressful, fast-paced environments and during medical crises.
• Strong reasoning, memory, math, and English language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Confident around pets.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work on hard floor surfaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work in noisy environments with sounds from animals and equipment.
• Potential exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications/controlled substances.
• Good hand-eye coordination and vision (including near, far, color, peripheral, depth perception).
• Ambulatory ability to work within a hospital setting.
