Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II
Under general supervision, you will be responsible for completing cosmetic inspections, final quality inspections, vehicle cleaning, paint touch‑up, wet sanding, and buffing of Car Max used, new, and customer vehicles according to Car Max standards. On an as‑needed basis, you will also perform Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning Associate I duties, including zone maintenance, prep for delivery, vehicle receiving, inventory scanning, vehicle movement (both on and off lot), and basic vehicle detailing (car wash, wash bay, interior cleaning/vacuuming, and exterior cleanliness).
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Execute standardized work processes as defined at established pace time.
- Participate in problem‑solving and continuous improvement activities with the team.
- Assist in training new associates under the guidance of the Reconditioning Associate Lead.
- Perform cosmetic reconditioning, cleaning, and repair processes such as paint touch‑up, wet sanding, and buffing according to Car Max standards.
- Complete cosmetic inspections.
- Complete final quality inspections.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization in accordance with Car Max 5S standards.
- Identify defects and determine the most appropriate repair methods according to Car Max standards.
- Provide auction support.
- Drive vehicles on and off lot.
- Provide outstanding customer service at all times.
- Complete duties assigned by leads and managers.
- Complete all required online and hands‑on training, including KRONOS training for hourly associates.
- Accountable to the Associate 1 Competency Model.
- Meet Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning I performance standards.
- Successfully complete Reconditioning Associate, Reconditioning Associate I, and II workstation certifications.
- Read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records.
- Perform multiple duties in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment.
- Execute manual tasks at a specific pace for a specific period of time.
- Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Speak and listen effectively when dealing with customers and associates in person and over the phone.
- Complete Car Max‑provided training in all functional areas of the inventory process for full coverage of inventory and detail.
- Indoor and outdoor environment; may involve working in noisy conditions or inclement weather.
- Walking or standing for extended periods of time.
- Wear Company‑issued Car Max clothing at all times while working in the store.
- Follow all Car Max, OSHA, and EPA standards, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper waste disposal.
- Adhere to all Car Max policies, including attendance, asset protection, integrity, and professional appearance standards.
