Summary
The lower school is searching for a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Assistant with a collaborative spirit and strong communication and interpersonal skills. The preferred candidate will have at least two years of working in an early childhood school environment. A strong knowledge base of early childhood development and academic abilities of young learners is essential for this position
Essential FunctionsThe tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and support positive social growth and development of the students in assigned grade level
- Assist assigned teacher in maintenance of classroom environment
- Assist in preparation of teaching materials
- Assist with literacy development and other classroom involvements in assigned classroom
- Work with individual students in need of extra support, as directed by classroom teacher
- Assist Pre-K teachers during transitional times such as lunch to rest time
- Assist Pre-K teachers in ensuring that Department of Education Licensing requirements are met
- Provide planning time for Pre-K teachers
- Provide before-school supervision, as assigned, both outside at drop-off and inside, supervising early arrivals until classrooms open
- Assist with afternoon dismissal process as directed
- Supervise recess for Pre-K and Kindergarten classes
- Supervise Pre-K and Kindergarten students as they travel to and from enrichment classes
- Supervise Extended Care students on Late Arrival and Early Dismissal Days, when Director is unable to otherwise secure enough care for the numbers who stay
- Assist with administration of assessments for prospective Pre-K & Kindergarten students
- Bachelor's Degree required;
Certification preferred
- Passion for working with lower school students
- Strong desire to work in a faith-based community
- Possesses a collaborative spirit with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to creating a joyful school experience
