Position: Veterinary Assistant 1

Veterinary Assistants support all functions of the CVM and DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center, including animal care and support for laboratory sessions.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED ;
Experience handling and managing companion and/or farm animals

Responsibilities
  • Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and the community at large
  • Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students
  • Assist the designated faculty to provide clinical and lab experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner
  • Assist with preparation for laboratories including organization of resources, including faculty, animals, student groups, equipment for laboratory, and consumables for laboratories
  • Assist with lab clean up
  • Assist with handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the animals housed at the DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center
  • Ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical student activities; comply with all IACUC guidelines
  • Maintain adequate records for animals
  • Maintain a current inventory of materials and equipment used in labs
  • Other duties as assigned
