Role Overview
The Senior Industrial Engineer plays a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing and distribution operations to ensure cost‑effective and timely delivery of goods by applying engineering principles, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. The position analyzes current processes, outlines improvements in workflow operations, and implements changes to meet project goals. It also partners with Operations, IT, and Engineering leadership to identify and deploy future enhancements in systems (software and automation) and provides technical expertise to support implementation efforts.
Responsibilities- Analyze, document, and optimize current processes—including layout design, inventory flow, and order fulfillment strategies—to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain labor management standards using motion and time standards, MOST, time‑study techniques, work instructions, and layout designs for operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to management.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (operations, quality, and maintenance) to drive performance improvements.
- Perform and monitor operations on the floor to understand gaps and final goals of a process.
- Design operational layout of equipment, workstations, and processes and oversee installation in accordance with project schedules.
- Identify automation opportunities, including selecting processes for automation and evaluating technology and providers.
- Assist in executing engineering projects and work with procurement during the request‑for‑proposal (RFP) process.
- Identify system and process issues on the floor to develop and execute projects in collaboration with IT and Operations.
- Develop work instructions for manufacturing and warehouse processes and train staff for standardization.
- Review design changes for processes, determine impact on operation and cost, and oversee implementation and timeliness.
- Collaborate with the Health & Safety department to improve equipment safety and develop pre‑production safety review processes that meet ergonomic and safety standards before equipment delivery and installation.
- Support tactical initiatives to optimize operational performance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering (Preferred).
- 5+ years of experience spanning industrial engineering in fast‑paced environments, developing labor standards, automation, and knowledge of WMS, WCS, PLC, and WES.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Preferred).
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System), WCS (Warehouse Control System), and WES (Warehouse Execution System).
- AutoCAD proficiency.
- Experience with simulation software (Preferred).
- PLC programming skills (Preferred).
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Project management skills in planning, prioritizing tasks, managing deadlines, and driving initiatives to completion.
- Aptitude for fostering and building cross‑functional relationships.
- Ability to analyze ROI.
This role will be an onsite role. You are expected to work from the stated job location 5 days a week.
Base SalaryThe targeted base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $ per year. Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.
