Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Industrial Engineering leads productivity improvements by developing, planning and implementing process automation projects. This role leads a team of engineers on continuous improvement activity aimed at optimizing distribution center operations in our Bartlett, Tennessee facility. The Senior Manager supports strategic initiatives designed to optimize operational performance in distribution and manufacturing processes.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead a team of Industrial Engineers to complete time studies and line‑balancing exercises to identify performance improvement opportunities.
- Mentor and serve as subject‑matter expert on process design and value stream mapping in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage engineering resources for 5S and shop‑floor layout planning to support workplace optimization.
- Address complex issues and adapt to changing departmental plans.
- Utilize industrial engineers to help the operations team meet operational challenges.
- Provide expertise on capacity assurance methodologies, root‑cause problem‑solving techniques, and process tools (e.g., 5‑why analysis, Ishikawa, DMAIC).
- Lead shop‑floor interactions with operations teams to identify capacity improvement opportunities and introduce process automation.
- Provide technology solutions using advanced manufacturing engineering best practices, automation, and vendor management.
- Develop engineering projects, participate in RFPs, source vendors, and manage projects within budget.
- Develop and deliver executive‑level communications for project approvals, demonstrating ROI.
- Develop and manage the industrial engineering portfolio, a 5‑year strategic plan.
- Collaborate with Health & Safety to improve equipment safety and develop pre‑production safety review processes.
- Develop and manage budgets for capital projects related to efficiency improvements and new technology integration.
- Develop cost‑saving strategies and ensure project plans are within budget constraints.
- Provide a clear ROI as part of the project maturity process.
- Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field. - Experience:
8+ years in industrial engineering or related operations/supply‑chain role; leading large‑scale continuous improvement initiatives and network optimization projects. - At least 3 years of experience in efficiency studies, data analytics, performance reporting, and project management.
- Preferred certifications:
Six Sigma Black Belt, Six Sigma Green Belt. - Technical skills:
Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD 2D, Project Management tools (MS Project or equivalent). - Other skills: 5S & Workplace Optimization, Systematic Layout Planning (Richard Muther and Associates Method).
Base salary range: $130,000 – $155,000 per year. Eligible for a 20 % bonus at 100 % of target, with opportunity to exceed 100 % depending on company performance.
