As the Fielder I, II, III
, you will ultimately be responsible for collecting field data, documenting existing utility infrastructure, and supporting engineering and construction teams with accurate information used to design and build telecommunications networks. You will perform aerial and underground field surveys, inspect completed construction, validate engineering designs, and deliver accurate field documentation. As the Fielder I, II, III, your customers are Congruex engineering teams, construction crews, clients, and utility partners, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through accurate field data collection, quality inspections, and safe work practices.
- Conduct aerial and underground field surveys by collecting utility pole data, attachment heights, clearances, underground facility information, and existing infrastructure measurements
- Document field conditions through photographs, sketches, notes, measurements, and digital reporting tools to support engineering design and construction planning
- Inspect completed construction, fiber placement, splicing, contractor work, and telecommunications facilities to verify compliance with engineering standards and project requirements
- Identify and recommend optimal routes and locations for new fiber optic infrastructure while considering constructability, value engineering, future maintenance, and customer requirements
- Attend field meetings with customers, contractors, utility companies, and government agencies while maintaining positive working relationships and communicating project updates
- Operate and maintain field equipment, including laptops, tablets, cameras, measuring devices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and company vehicles while following all company safety policies and procedures
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
- Experience performing field inspections, utility surveys, telecommunications fielding, construction inspections, or related outdoor field work preferred
- Experience working in telecommunications, utility, engineering, architecture, or construction environments preferred
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to read maps, engineering drawings, construction plans, and utility records
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, tablets, and project management software
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications, databases, and field reporting systems
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company safety standards
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related field
- Knowledge of telecommunications engineering standards and construction techniques
- Understanding of Make-Ready Engineering and Construction practices
- Experience supporting fiber optic, broadband, or utility infrastructure projects
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to look upward for extended periods while inspecting aerial facilities
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods while traveling to multiple job sites
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely perform field work around construction activities
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
