Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to be a key member of our Technical Operations Center. The role involves applying server and cloud management skills in a global enterprise to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the UMG Global infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and solve problems, frequently under time constraints and business pressure.
- Contribute to detailed capacity and performance analysis.
- Work with vendors and global/regional IT groups to resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for UMG application communities and sourcing providers for operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
- Monitor infrastructure operational alerts (e.g., environmental, server performance, and devices) and escalate as necessary.
- Maintain high‑quality process and procedure documentation.
- Maintain and implement high‑quality operational standards, processes, and procedures.
- Maintain redundancy, backup and recovery processes, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of key technologies.
- Monitor and tune systems to identify and eliminate issues and potential bottlenecks.
- Participate in on‑call rotation; work out of standard business hours as required.
- Participate in developing automation to reduce time spent on routine tasks.
- Work shift‑based, providing timely resolution and communication for operational issues.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in technical server management and/or enterprise Cloud systems (AWS, Azure, Google).
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technology (VMware, Hyper‑V).
- Strong people skills and the ability to be both diplomatic and firm.
- Familiarity with operating system administration and tools including Microsoft, MacOSX, and Linux.
- Experience with scripting to develop automation and reporting.
- Exposure to managing large cloud server infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal modes to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Time‑management skills in a high‑interruption operational environment.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
- Customer and service delivery orientation.
- Excellent and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code.
- Desirable: MCSE and/or Linux certifications.
- Desirable:
Exposure to version control and release management concepts and tools, particularly Git (Git Hub / Bitbucket). - Desirable:
Familiarity with Systems Reliability Engineering principles, automation, and AI. - Desirable:
International experience and additional languages.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a closely related field, or comparable education and experience.
- Preferred certifications: AWS, MCSE, other professional certifications; ITIL Foundation Certification strongly desired.
