Position: Weekend Shift - CNC Machinist I

Engineered Medical Systems (EMS) is a medical device manufacturer specializing in precision machining, assembly, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

CNC Machinist I

Operates and performs simple setups on CNC equipment (Mills, Lathes, Swiss, EDM, Mill/Turn) to manufacture medical components from raw materials.

Responsibilities
  • Operate machines and run more than one machine at a time.
  • Solve basic machining issues common in a machining environment.
  • Inspect product per the inspection plan. Deburr parts, if needed.
  • Inspect cutting tools for sharpness and tool life.
  • Report damaged or spent tooling to Supervisor or machine shop manager for repair/replace.
  • Report any non-conforming parts to Supervisor.
  • Closely monitor machine operation, detect malfunctions or out of tolerance features, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain machining area for cleanliness and perform minor preventive maintenance such as coolant level checks.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvements.
  • Record production through the Job Boss system.
  • Ensure all documentation (routers, inspection sheets, scrap tickets, etc.) is filled in correctly and completely following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Take pride in workmanship and strive to produce quality product every time.
  • Support EMS Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED plus Machining Certification with at least 1 year of CNC experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of machining techniques on assigned equipment.
  • Familiarity with material types and general properties related to assignments.
  • Working knowledge of measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, comparators, and indicators.
  • Very familiar with drawing terms and able to interpret feature requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand the Router.
  • Understanding of the Data Collection System.
  • Understanding of relevant safety requirements.
  • Team‑oriented and able to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
