Job Description
What is a Salesperson? Entry‑level sales position supporting the DIY business and driving sales and service objectives. The role requires knowledge of store systems, basic automotive and part knowledge, sourcing from stores, hubs, PDQ, and external suppliers, and in‑depth inventory and maintenance process understanding. The position may be part‑time or full‑time. Fleet safety certification is preferred.
- Provide an excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal sales goals and help the store reach its sales targets.
- Deliver DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installations.
- Maintain store product and operational standards.
- Manage inventory processes, including truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back‑stock.
- Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot.
- Support general stocking, including truck stocking and back‑stock.
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Proficiency with a delivery board system.
- Friendly communication skills.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY service.
Job Skills Necessary for Success As a Salesperson
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Use basic math accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
- Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- 2–3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.

The role requires walking or standing for the majority of the shift, frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, good vision, and the ability to reach, climb, balance, and stoop. The work may involve exposure to weather, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, chemicals, electrical shock, vibrations, and moderate noise.
Work EnvironmentEmployees will primarily work indoors but may also work outdoors in various weather conditions during tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The environment may involve moving mechanical parts, high places, chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.
