Safety Representative – Full‑time, Permanent – Bartow, FL
The Laframboise Group is seeking a Safety Representative with industrial project experience to monitor, manage, prioritize, and ensure safety across LGL projects. The candidate will be an advocate and leader for safety, accident prevention, and regulatory compliance.
Description of PositionResponsible for monitoring, managing, prioritizing, and ensuring the safety of the team while mitigating and addressing hazards efficiently on LGL projects.
Responsibilities- Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulatory requirements including any local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Communicate safety requirements and expectations, setting the example of LGL’s commitment to a safe work environment.
- Oversee and ensure safe daily operations in the field, respond to and provide immediate project safety needs.
- Coach and train workers on safety policies, procedures, and practices (new hire orientation, refresher, stand‑down meetings, etc.).
- Prepare and present daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings.
- Prepare Job Hazard Analysis as required.
- Review all Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA).
- Conduct daily documented site inspections and audits to identify existing/potential risks, compliance, and prevention.
- Develop effective strategies to mitigate risks as they arise in the field.
- Monitor compliance, enforce safety policies and procedures, issue disciplinary action for violations.
- Write and update Safe Job Procedures and Safe Work Practices as needed.
- Provide immediate on‑scene assistance and management in the event of an incident.
- Assess and administer first‑aid as needed.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain a daily log of duties and activities and safety records.
- Ensure all administrative aspects of site safety are addressed (trade safety certificates, site signage, safety boards, documentation storage).
- Issue and maintain stock of personal protective equipment as required.
- Assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
- Hold others accountable and coach effectively.
- Handle confidential situations (medical or proprietary).
- Additional safety‑related duties as required.
- Will work rotations in and out of remote project settings (several weeks to 12 months).
- Travel to project sites and availability after hours as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of construction health and safety experience.
- Expert knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and construction regulations.
- Valid OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 preferred.
- Ability to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong investigative skills, including root cause analysis.
- Current First Aid CPR + AED with naloxone injection training.
- Current working at heights training.
- Other applicable certifications (OSHA 500, OSHA 30, HAZWOPPER 40, Confined Space, etc.).
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office).
- Competitive salary, $30/hr to $40/hr.
