YourSpecific Responsibilities
This position is a Physician- OB Care in our clinical division. As a Physician, the incumbent is expected to provide direct patient care, quality assurance services and education in accordance with the physician’s specialty and licensure. The Incumbent will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team of physicians, Advanced Registered Nursing Practitioners (ARNP), County Health Nurses, Registered Nurses, License Practical Nurses and other ancillary staff in the public health setting.
- Provides general primary obstetric and gynecological care using generally accepted standards of practice.
- Develops plan of care for each patient, including complete history, physical examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and /or referral.
- Use all available resources in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner.
- Provides obstetric and gynecological care according to accepted ACOG standards.
- Confer with consulting physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, support staff, patients, and families concerning treatment and care of patients. Makes appropriate specialty and sub-specialty referrals, but maintains responsibility, assuring continuous care.
- Conforms to Title X requirements and agrees to provide all methods of birth control
- Provide education on tubal ligations at the request of patients, at legally permitted age, with thorough explanation and documentation of risks and benefits.
- Promotes good health/disease prevention activities. Stresses importance of preventive health care measures.
- Participate in quality improvement/assurance activities.
- Reviews representative sample of OB ARNPs’ electronic records for quality-of-care standards, best practices and proper documentation of care to support billing activities and provides findings and consultation if needed
- Supports mid-level providers consultation and mentoring.
- Completes records in adequate professional detail, and in a timely manner using electronic medical record system.
- Completes patient/billing records with accurate diagnostic and CPT codes in a timely manner.
- Leads training discussion updates at OB provider meetings
- Reviews QA findings for opportunities to provide training to providers.
- Interfaces with community services and providers.
- Acquires and maintains knowledge and skills to perform required duties to meet state, organizational and licensure requirements.
- Comply with FDOH-Polk policies, protocols and guidelines.
- Follows established guidelines for use and/or disclosure of protected health information. Employees should report any breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules immediately. Failure to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
