The work you will do:

• Inspector III District 1 / Operations / Bartow Operations Center
• This position will analyze complex plans and perform independent complex technical assignments to accomplish inspection and monitoring of work activities performed within the state Right of Way.
• Verify that work is performed according to all State and Federal specifications, plans, permits, policies, procedures, statutes, rules.
• Performs approved testing techniques through the use of hand tools, gauges and/or instruments to ensure materials used conform to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements.
• Use various engineering tools, equipment, instruments and computers for performing technical engineering tasks, problem solving and record keeping.
• Provide information to consulting engineers, developers, architects, and permit applicants as needed.
• Prepares all documentation in order to validate payments to roadway contractors.

Annual salary range: $45,801.77 - $59,272.88

Your specific responsibilities:

• Analyze complex plans and perform independent complex technical assignments to accomplish inspection and monitoring of work activities performed within the state Right of Way.
• Verify that work is performed according to all State and Federal specifications, plans, permits, policies, procedures, statutes, rules.
• Performs approved testing techniques through the use of hand tools, gauges and/or instruments to ensure materials used conform to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements.
• Use various engineering tools, equipment, instruments and computers for performing technical engineering tasks, problem solving and record keeping.
• Provide information to consulting engineers, developers, architects, and permit applicants as needed.
• Prepares all documentation in order to validate payments to roadway contractors.
• Perform interpretation of documents related to authorized Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) device usage, installation/placement, and materials to ensure safe work zones.
• Reviews work site activities for conformity to safety regulations and takes corrective measures when deficiencies are noted.
• Conducts surveys of signs, guardrail, and attenuators as required by procedures.
• Provides survey of roadway items to be inventoried for Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI).
