MATERIALS MANAGER - GEOTECH DESIGN -
Job SummarySupports the agency by providing geotechnical expertise that helps ensure safe and reliable transportation infrastructure. Conducts field evaluations of soil and foundation conditions, reviews geotechnical design and construction documentation for accuracy and compliance, and oversees geotechnical consultants to ensure compliance with department standards. Helps keep projects on track by identifying issues, recommending solutions, and providing technical input to project teams.

Salary$65,181.52 - $84,352.55 annually
Responsibilities- Perform analysis in the field to determine the best approach to department soil and foundation needs.
- Determine appropriate foundation installation technique and parameters.
- Verify that installed foundations meet design requirements.
- Design foundations and other geotechnical solutions to support department infrastructure.
- Support consultant contracts in accordance with applicable rules, laws and procedures.
- Review consultant work effort, comment on invoices, and ensure compliance.
- Evaluate project/process performance, recommend improvements, and notify stakeholders of changes.
- Perform analysis of in‑place conditions, determine causes, and propose solutions.
- Review quality control plans, construction documents, and specifications; provide clear comments in a timely manner.
- Analyze material data for contract and procedural compliance; take corrective action as needed.
- Provide technical support and training to customers, meeting their needs in a timely fashion.
- Geotechnical engineering concepts, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques.
- Engineering design, construction, production, and operations.
- Use of engineering tools, equipment, and instruments.
- Operate a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Analyze and interpret engineering data.
- Solve engineering problems.
- Perform engineering inspections.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must possess or obtain and maintain the Pile Driving Inspector CTQP and Drilled Shaft Inspector CTQP qualifications. Must pass or have passed Construction Math and Contract Plans Reading Self Study examinations. Must be responsive to emergency situations and serve on the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT).
Minimum QualificationsPrior experience using engineering or manufacturing tools, equipment, and instruments; and prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database applications.
