MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one and a half (1.5) years of experience in environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; or engineering; or
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) months of experience as described above; or
Two and a half (2.5) years of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida; or
Three (3) years of experience as described above.
Requires possession of a valid Class E Driver License.

JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent spends majority of their time communicating with, motivating, providing, or coordinating training, and directing the work of subordinates.
Supervises Environmental Specialists conducting Best Management Practices compliance inspections.
Conducts compliance inspections at aquaculture facilities certified under 5L-3.004, F.A.C.
Reviews Aquaculture Certificate of Registration applications and assists applicants in the certification process.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the terminology, principles and analytical techniques of the physical or natural sciences.
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, agency rules and processes.
- Knowledge of personnel policies and practices.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to compliance of certified facilities.
- Ability to train new staff in all aspects of the assigned program.
- Ability to recruit, interview, and select persons for the assigned program.
- Ability to motivate, develop, direct, and assist staff.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific or technical data.
- Ability to prepare compliance and/or technical reports.
- Ability to interact with the public, coworkers, staff and other local, state or federal employees in a tactful, courteous and professional manner at all times.
