The QA/QC Department Manager is a critical leadership role at Madrid CFTL, responsible for overseeing the integrity, compliance, and performance of our field and laboratory operations. This position plays a key role in upholding our commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement across all construction materials testing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the QA/QC program for laboratory and field testing, ensuring consistent accuracy and compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and FDOT standards.
  • Supervise and review test reports, daily field logs, and lab results to verify adherence to project specifications.
  • Standardize procedures across teams and ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Mentor and train field and lab technicians to promote technical excellence and procedural consistency.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update internal quality manuals, SOPs, and training records.
  • Participate in internal and external audits; ensure certifications and accreditations are current and upheld.
  • Track and analyze quality metrics, identifying trends and implementing improvements.
  • Contribute to business development by supporting proposals and communicating Madrid CFTL’s QA/QC capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction materials testing (CMT), with 2+ years in a QA/QC or leadership role.
  • FDOT field and lab certifications preferred (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils, etc.).
  • PE license or ability to obtain is a plus, not required.
  • Strong knowledge of ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, and FDOT testing procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to documentation accuracy and procedural compliance.
  • Proficiency in industry software and Microsoft Office Suite.
