The Environmental Specialist III conducts research and surveillance on environmental radiation related to phosphate mining operations in Florida. The position involves collecting environmental samples, performing field evaluations, conducting gamma surveys, and preparing reports on mining impacts. The incumbent serves as a member of Florida's radiological emergency response team and must be available 24/7 for radiation emergencies.
Key qualifications:- Knowledge of radiation terminology, principles, and analytical techniques
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in chemistry, physics, health physics, biology, or environmental science (preferred)
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Ability to lift 60 pounds of equipment
- Willingness to work before, during, and beyond normal work hours during emergencies
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
