Job Summary
As the Fabrication Shop Material Coordinator, you will be responsible for tracking, kitting, and effectively communicating all material needs with the Job Prep Project Managers and the Fabrication Shop Superintendent while maintaining a well‑organized work area.
Key Responsibilities- Track Material Costs and arrivals as trained by the Project Manager.
- Track, locate, kit, and stage materials as trained by the Project Manager.
- Enter requisitions to assist Project Managers and Shop Leads.
- Track missing items and assist in getting them on site.
- Prepare shipping paperwork, Bills of Lading, and work orders for Project Managers.
- Track job costs as trained by the Project Manager.
- Help prepare financial documents, reports, or budgets.
- Communicate organizational information to customers or other stakeholders.
- Manage pick up schedule with requestor, and ensure all documents are accurately saved.
- Help with the analysis of forecasting data to improve business decisions.
- Complete detailed inspection reports for each item on code jobs.
- Ensure all shipments are properly received, correspondence saved per company requirements, and material arrives to correct destination intact.
- Verify MTR’s and save properly, PMI SS, and verify accuracy of heat numbers.
- Coordinate with shops when material arrives to ensure awareness of material on site.
- Update material tracking report.
- Safely store and kit material as it arrives.
- Assist the shop in locating and retrieving material to ship out or stage for customer pick up.
- Check bill of next to verify accuracy and completeness of deliveries.
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
- Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine material assignment based on shop needs.
- Move materials to and from storage or production areas, or delivery vehicles, by hand or using a forklift.
- Safely operate forklifts, telescoping boom forklifts, and non‑CDL trucks/vans regularly.
- Keep storage area(s) organized to ensure safety and materials can be located quickly.
- Alert project manager or supervisor of any material discrepancies as soon as it’s discovered.
- Mandatory to carry a company phone, for handling assistance throughout the day and to monitor emails for updates on incoming material.
- Position requires the incumbent be willing and able to work from various worksites as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Prior experience as a warehouse and forklift operator is preferred.
- Basic material handling knowledge and experience is required.
- Basic construction knowledge is required.
- Intermediate computer skills required in Microsoft Excel.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook, required.
