Our client is a leading international financial institution based in Basel, offering a global and collaborative working environment. As a Payroll Officer, you will manage payroll operations, social security, and tax activities for employees and pensioners, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Description Payroll Operations- Manage and review end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Validate salary adjustments, benefits, and pension-related changes
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
- Ensure accurate and timely payments to employees and pensioners
- Prepare payroll-related accounting entries and support monthly reconciliations in collaboration with Finance
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries
- Administer Swiss social security accounts (e.g. AHV/ALV) in line with legal requirements
- Support employees with tax-related queries in coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Contribute to annual tax return support processes
- Review and document payroll processes, identifying opportunities for improvement
- Implement best practices and enhance efficiency in payroll operations
- Maintain accurate payroll records in line with internal policies
- Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external banking partners
- Provide ad hoc support within the payroll team and cover during absences
- Oversee processes related to employee financial accounts and related transactions
- +5 years of experience in payroll operations
- Strong expertise in multi-currency payroll environments
- Solid understanding of Swiss payroll regulations (including social security and tax)
- Hands‑on experience with HR systems (ideally Workday)
- Proven experience in reconciliation, reporting, and audit processes
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
