At Roche, we advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. Located at our Basel site, the Technical Development Leader (TDL) plays a pivotal role in bringing innovative medicines to life.

In this strategic leadership role, you will lead Technical Development Teams (TDTs) to design and drive Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control (CMC) strategies for clinical drug candidates for synthetic molecules. From early human trials through product launch, you will ensure scientific integrity, proactive risk mitigation, and seamless collaboration across global cross-functional teams.

As a TDL, you will be accountable for the end-to-end technical strategy and execution of complex pharmaceutical assets:

• Strategic Leadership:
  Lead scientific and technical teams throughout the product lifecycle, designing multifaceted CMC strategies (manufacturing, formulation, supply chain) for regulatory approval and commercial success.

• Governance & Influence:
  Serve as the primary liaison to asset teams, senior management, and governance committees, delivering transparent updates to drive enterprise-wide decisions.

• Operational & Financial Stewardship:
  Oversee end-to-end CMC development, including resource forecasting, financial stewardship, and milestone tracking for flawless execution.

• Risk & Decision Management:
  Drive informed investment decisions and proactive risk mitigation, establishing robust contingency plans for critical project milestones.

You are a recognized thought leader in CMC and product development with a passion for transforming science into life-saving therapies. You combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision and strong executive presence.

• Education:
  
  B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Professional
  
  Experience:
  
  7-15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with proven experience as a CMC team leader or deep expertise in synthetic molecule process and formulation development.

• Strategic & Program Leadership:
  Broad understanding of the full drug development lifecycle, with a track record of managing complex, cross-functional programs.

• Communication & Negotiation:
  Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to influence senior management and external partners.

• Mobility:
  Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (approx. 5-10%).
