Position: Electrical Wiring Engineer |   | £40,000 - £45,000 D.O.E | Full time

Electrical Wiring & Integration Engineer

Job Purpose:

To assemble, wire, test and integrate packaging machinery into customer production lines. The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical wiring, control system integration, and ensuring communication between packaging equipment and automated production systems using digital I/O signals and electrical interfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wire and assemble electrical components on packaging machinery in accordance with electrical drawings and company standards.
  • Install, terminate and test electrical wiring, sensors, actuators, motors and control devices.
  • Carry out wiring modifications and fault finding during machine build and commissioning.
  • Integrate packaging equipment into customer production lines by connecting and configuring control signals.
  • Ensure machinery correctly receives and sends start/stop, ready, fault and cycle complete signals to external production equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Conduct electrical testing and verify correct operation before machine dispatch.
  • Assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT) and on-site commissioning where required.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and integration issues efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with electrical safety standards and company quality procedures.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, controls engineers and project managers to deliver integrated machine solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Wiring Integration (Essential)
    • Interfacing standalone machines with conveyor systems or automated production equipment.
    • Wiring digital input/output (I/O) signals between machines.
    • Understanding machine handshake signals including:
      • Machine Ready
      • Product Present
      • Start Cycle
      • Stop Line
      • Fault Signal
      • Cycle Complete
    • Connecting equipment to customer control systems.
    • Reading and understanding electrical schematics and interface drawings.
    • Fault finding communication and wiring issues between interconnected machines.
  • Electrical Skills
    • Electrical machine wiring.
    • Panel wiring and component installation.
    • Cable termination.
    • Industrial sensors and switches.
    • Motors, contractors, relays and safety circuits.
    • Electrical fault diagnosis.
    • Use of multimeters and electrical test equipment.
Desirable Experience
  • Packaging machinery.

  • PLC-controlled machinery.
  • Industrial automation.

  • Knowledge of CE/UKCA machinery requirements.
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation or Mechatronics.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable).
  • ECS/CSCS card (desirable).
