An established and growing building, mechanical and maintenance contractor is looking to recruit a Mechanical Installation Engineer / Mechanical Fitter / Pipefitter to join its expanding team.
This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced mechanical professional who enjoys practical installation work and is looking for a varied role with long-term development and progression.
The successful candidate will work across a range of commercial, public sector and infrastructure projects, carrying out mechanical installation, pipework modifications, pump installations and associated mechanical works.
The role will include work on water and wastewater sites, as well as wider mechanical and building services projects. Full manufacturer training will be provided on specialist pump equipment.
The Role
Typical responsibilities will include:
Installing pumps and associated mechanical equipment
Installing and modifying mechanical pipework
Working with valves, fittings and associated equipment
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Carrying out mechanical installation and maintenance works
Assisting with testing, commissioning and fault finding
Working safely on operational sites
Completing site documentation and reports
Liaising with clients, suppliers and project teams
Supporting wider mechanical and construction activities where required
About You
We would consider candidates from a range of mechanical backgrounds, including:
Mechanical Fitter
Mechanical Installation Engineer
Mechanical Installer
Pipefitter
Mechanical Pipefitter
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Mechanical Engineer
Building Services Engineer
You should have a strong practical mechanical background and be confident working independently on site.
Experience working from engineering drawings and carrying out mechanical installation or pipework works is important.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous, although training can be provided where appropriate:
Water or wastewater experience, Pump installation or maintenance, Pipework installation, Fabrication or welding, Plant room experience, Heating or chilled water systems, CSCS Card, EUSR Water Hygiene, Confined Space, SSSTS or SMSTS and NVQ or other relevant mechanical qualification's.
Working Area
The role involves regular travel across the South and South-West, with the main operating area covering locations across Hampshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex, East Sussex and Surrey.
Candidates should be comfortable travelling between client sites as required.
A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
