Position Overview
Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered Special Education Self-Contained Teacher to serve students with diverse learning and behavioral needs at Bastrop High School. The ideal candidate will provide standards-aligned, individualized instruction in a structured, supportive setting while fostering academic growth, functional independence, and social-emotional development. The teacher will ensure compliance with IDEA, LDOE, and BESE requirements, including IEP implementation.

In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

Key Responsibilities
* Provide individualized instruction for students with disabilities
* Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with IDEA
* Use evidence-based instructional strategies
* Implement behavior supports including BIPs and PBIS
* Monitor student progress and maintain documentation
* Collaborate with staff and participate in IEP meetings
* Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment
* Engage families and support transition planning
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
* Valid Louisiana Special Education Teaching Certificate or eligibility through LDOE
* Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
* Experience with behavior management strategies
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Commitment to student success and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Special Education or related field
* Experience in self-contained classroom setting
* Experience with FBAs, BIPs, and SEL strategies
* Experience in Title I schools
* Training in de-escalation and crisis prevention
* Participation in PLCs
