Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered High School Science Teacher to support academic excellence at Bastrop High School, a Title I campus dedicated to equity and student achievement. The ideal candidate will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in Chemistry and/or Physical Science, fostering scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills while preparing students for postsecondary education and career readiness.

In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

Key Responsibilities- Deliver standards-aligned instruction based on Louisiana Student Standards for Science (LSSS)
- Plan and implement rigorous, inquiry-based lessons in Chemistry and/or Physical Science
- Facilitate hands-on laboratory investigations while ensuring adherence to safety protocols
- Promote scientific reasoning, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Integrate mathematical and literacy skills into science instruction
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment aligned with PBIS expectations
- Incorporate instructional technology and digital tools
- Collaborate through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504, and district policies
- Engage families and stakeholders to support student achievement
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Science or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
- Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Science (LSSS)
- Demonstrated skills in instructional planning, classroom management, and data-driven instruction
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and equipment use
- Understanding of federal and state education laws (FERPA, IDEA, Section 504)
- Proficiency with instructional technology and data systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to equity, student achievement, and professional growth
- Candidates enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must provide proof of enrollment, coursework, and Praxis scores (if applicable)
- Master's degree in Science, education, or related field
- 1–3 years of teaching experience at the high school level
- Experience in a Title I school or with diverse learners
- Knowledge of Louisiana accountability systems and graduation pathways
- Experience with MTSS/RTI and data analysis
- Strong background in lab-based and inquiry-based instruction
- Experience supporting diverse learners
- Participation in PLCs or collaborative teams
