Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Special Education Teacher – Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) to serve students from PreK through 12th grade. This is an itinerant position that provides specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites.
The TVI will deliver direct and consultative services aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), support access to the general education curriculum, and collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to ensure equitable and meaningful educational opportunities.
This role requires travel between schools and, when appropriate, may include services provided in homes, daycares, or community-based settings in accordance with student needs and IEP requirements.
To ensure students with visual impairments have equitable access to high-quality instruction and the general education curriculum by providing specialized instruction, consultation, and support services aligned with LDOE policies, IDEA, and best practices in visual impairment education.

Full-Time, 9-Month Contract Salary:
Based on MPSD Teacher Salary Schedule and applicable state guidelines Travel:
Required between school sites; mileage reimbursement provided per district policy
Reports To:
Director of Special Education, and School Principals (as assigned)
Performance evaluated by the Director of Special Education and/or assigned school administrator.

Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across PreK–12 Deliver instruction in Braille, assistive technology, visual efficiency, and compensatory skills Adapt instructional materials (large print, Braille, digital formats) Support access to general education curriculum
Participate in IEP development and implementation Conduct and contribute to evaluations and assessments Maintain compliance with IDEA and LDOE regulations Maintain service logs and progress data
Collaborate with teachers and related service providers Provide staff training and consultation Communicate with families regarding progress and strategies
Travel between assigned schools to deliver services Provide services in homes, daycares, and community settings when required Maintain a structured service schedule
Participate in professional development Maintain knowledge of best practices Develop a professional growth plan Perform other duties as assigned
Valid Louisiana teaching certificate in Special Education or related field Eligibility for or current certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments Knowledge of special education laws and instructional practices Strong communication and collaboration skills
Certified teachers without VI endorsement must agree to pursue add-on certification within a district-approved timeframe.
Current TVI certification Experience with visually impaired students Knowledge of Braille and assistive technology Experience in itinerant teaching
