Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered Special Education Self-Contained Teacher to serve students with diverse learning and behavioral needs at Bastrop High School. The ideal candidate will provide standards-aligned, individualized instruction in a structured, supportive setting while fostering academic growth, functional independence, and social-emotional development. The teacher will ensure compliance with IDEA, LDOE, and BESE requirements, including IEP implementation.

Employment Type:

Full-Time 9-Month Contract

Salary:
In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

Provide individualized instruction for students with disabilities

Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with IDEA

Use evidence-based instructional strategies

Implement behavior supports including BIPs and PBIS

Monitor student progress and maintain documentation

Collaborate with staff and participate in IEP meetings

Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment

Engage families and support transition planning

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Valid Louisiana Special Education Teaching Certificate or eligibility through LDOE

Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes

Experience with behavior management strategies

Strong communication and organizational skills

Commitment to student success and inclusion

Master's degree in Special Education or related field

Experience in self-contained classroom setting

Experience with FBAs, BIPs, and SEL strategies

Experience in Title I schools

Training in de-escalation and crisis prevention

Participation in PLCs
