WHAT WE RE LOOKING FORWe re looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our OB/Nursery team. The ideal candidate is passionate about caring for mothers and newborns, possesses strong clinical judgment, and is committed to delivering exceptional, family-centered care. This nurse will work collaboratively with physicians, mid-level providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes for both mother and baby.
- Provide compassionate nursing care to obstetric, postpartum, nursery, and newborn patients.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for mothers and newborns.
- Monitor maternal and newborn health, recognizing and responding to changes in condition.
- Assist physicians and providers during labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care as needed.
- Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy according to physician orders and hospital policy.
- Perform newborn assessments, screenings, and routine nursery care.
- Promote mother-baby bonding and support breastfeeding through education and encouragement.
- Educate patients and families regarding pregnancy, postpartum recovery, newborn care, feeding, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies while maintaining patient safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Support a welcoming, compassionate, and family-centered environment.
- Current, unrestricted Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification preferred.
- Previous Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Mother/Baby, Nursery, or Women s Services experience preferred.
- Strong maternal, newborn, and family education skills.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.

- Twelve-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and rotating call as needed.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting patients throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely lift and reposition patients and newborns using proper body mechanics.
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including a background check, drug screen, and any applicable health screenings.
