MEDICAL SURGICAL REGISTERED NURSE (RN)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical-Surgical team. The ideal candidate is an organized, patient-focused professional with excellent clinical judgment who enjoys caring for diverse patient populations in a fast-paced environment. This nurse will work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide safe, evidence-based care while promoting positive patient outcomes.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for medical and surgical patients.
  • Monitor patient conditions and promptly identify and communicate changes in clinical status.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Care for patients recovering from surgery and those with acute or chronic medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, procedures, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Promote patient safety by following infection prevention practices, medication safety standards, and hospital policies.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and changing patient conditions.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges while ensuring continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
  • Support a positive, collaborative work environment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
  • Current, unrestricted Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required based on unit needs.
  • Previous Medical-Surgical, Acute Care, or Hospital nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple patients in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional patient care.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • A fast-paced inpatient Medical-Surgical environment caring for adult patients with a variety of medical diagnoses and post-operative needs.
  • Twelve-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, nights, and rotating schedules as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and repositioning patients throughout the shift.
  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
  • Ability to safely lift and reposition patients using proper body mechanics and patient handling equipment.
  • Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including a background check, drug screen, and any applicable health screenings.
