WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a compassionate, confident, and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced environment, possesses exceptional critical thinking skills, and can quickly assess, prioritize, and treat patients with a wide range of medical conditions. This nurse will work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS personnel, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver outstanding emergency care.

  • Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care using established triage guidelines.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients with medical emergencies, trauma, and acute illnesses.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments safely and accurately.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in clinical status.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with emergency procedures and life‑saving interventions.
  • Operate and monitor emergency equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and infusion pumps.
  • Collaborate with EMS, physicians, respiratory therapists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, patient safety initiatives, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
  • Support a collaborative, patient‑focused environment while delivering compassionate emergency care.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
  • Current, unrestricted Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certifications preferred.
  • Previous Emergency Department, Critical Care, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking, rapid decision‑making, and patient assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high‑pressure situations.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • A fast-paced Emergency Department caring for patients of all ages with a wide variety of medical conditions, injuries, and emergencies.
  • Twelve-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules based on departmental needs.
