Job Location

Federal Correctional Institution Bastrop; 1341 N. State Highway 95, Bastrop, TX, 78602.

Pay Rate: $ per year.

Sign-on bonus: $15,000 sign‑on with a two‑year commitment.

8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 7:30am–4:00pm, not to exceed 40 hours per week.

• Minimum of three years of experience is preferred yet not required
• Dental Hygienist license from the State of Texas and/or board certification
• Dental radiology certification required
• Anesthesia certification preferred, not required

• Provide dental prophylaxis, other preventive oral health services, and other periodontal services on inmates
• Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions for each patient
• Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis
• Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist
• Provide oral health care services such as suture removal, administration of local anesthetic, and other services (if trained)
• Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff
• Oversee health services’ housekeeping and infection control procedures
• Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental staff
• Track scheduling of patient care
• Ability to collect and track data and enter data into the agency’s electronic system
• Must have knowledge and experience in maintaining medical records and confidentiality
• Any other reasonable tasks needed by the health services unit, or assigned by supervisory staff, that are related to health services
