BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY:
In the absence of a Teacher or Support Staff, follow regular lesson plans to ensure consistency and instruction continues without interruption.
ENTRY
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma and/or GED
* Texas Certified or college degree preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
* Ability to work well with children and adults
* Ability to communicate verbally and written effectively
* Background working with children in educational setting, preferred

Instructional and Student Support:
* Follow teacher plans and present information and instruction to help students learn the subject matter and skills.
* Maintain instruction that is compatible with the school and system-wide curriculum goals.
* Interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
* Adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations as presented in the Substitute Handbook and online
* District policies.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Provide guidance and direction as assigned.
MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
* Tools/Equipment Used:
Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]
* Posture:
Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
* Motion:
Frequent walking
* Lifting:
Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
* Environment:
Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
* Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
