Basic Function & Responsibility: Provide students with learning activities and experiences to support intellectual, physical, and social/emotional growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills for society. Provide embedded professional development and procedural support in classroom management, Response to Intervention, Social-Emotional Learning, and Restorative Practices. Oversee the school-wide integration of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, communicate with parents, and participate in campus committees.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- A valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level, plus an ESL supplement
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
- Knowledge of curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement
- Knowledge of effective instruction and evaluation methodologies
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes
- Skill in using technology as a learning tool in all content areas
- Skill in engaging others in collective inquiry and problem solving
- Skill in collecting, analyzing, and using data to support student learning
- Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices
- Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities
- Knowledge of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support framework and its components
- Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
Instructional Support:
- Provide informal and formal coaching cycles with teachers, offering feedback and professional development
- Observe classrooms and coach on MTSS model fidelity
- Set student-centered goals with teachers using district data
- Model and collaborate on strategies such as co-teaching
- Conduct coaching conferences with effective communication and questioning tactics
- Provide non-evaluative targeted verbal and written feedback from walkthroughs
- Offer scheduled and ad hoc professional development to campus and district staff
- Train campus staff to be campus-based mentors for students in Behavior RtI
- Guide implementation of Tier 1 PBIS, including acknowledgment systems
- Determine student-centered instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements
- Assess student achievement through formal & informal testing (progress monitoring, behavior data, social/emotional competency)
- Support SEL curriculum implementation and monitor fidelity; assist teachers with engagement strategies
- Help meet objectives of campus, department, and district improvement plans
- Implement plans from the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, Section 504 Committee, Response to Intervention Committees, and Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee
- Provide instruction in accordance with approved curriculum and required resources
Student Management:
- Create a learning-conducive classroom environment for all students
- Implement PYPI, Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Practices, and SEL
- Monitor and report student progress per campus and district guidelines
- Take precautions to protect students and facilities
- Resolve parent/student issues promptly
- Model positive behavior for students
- Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct and Handbook
- Communicate with families using district-approved protocols
- Observe students to guide interventions and maintain fidelity
