Role overview
Insight Global is seeking a Civil Engineer for our advanced rockets and spacecraft client. will be on the construction projects team and will be responsible for designing, building, and activating critical production facility infrastructure for a massive, 1M+ square foot campus. This role is very hands-on and requires candidates to both plan AND execute new facility construction/renovation projects, primarily focused on heavy civil and utility components.
This Civil Engineer will be in a highly collaborative environment and work cross-functionally with construction PMs, facilities engineers, designers, vendors/suppliers, and internal customers. This role will own projects from start to finish, so it is imperative to have strong prior experience in a high-ownership role with little oversight.
- Develop and issue drawings, designs, documentation, and reports for land development projects
- Calculations for drainage and grading, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities
- Do what it takes to obtain local, state, and federal permits related specifically to land development and utility construction projects
- Manage all civil tasks associated with field construction projects, including quality control, conflict resolution, and team coordination
- Coordinate and direct a multi-disciplinary contractor team
- Manage communication with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal stakeholders to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimates before project implementation
- Resolve design and construction conflicts in real time
- 4+ years of work experience in full lifecycle civil engineering: design, analysis, and drafting
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Prior work experience owning projects from start to finish in the industrial, manufacturing, and commercial land development projects
- Strong previous experience with civil design software, specifically Storm
CAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMC, PCSWMM, and WaterCAD - 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil3D (grading to create a Civil3D surface file, earthwork volume takeoffs, plan and profile creation, base model set-up, etc.)
- Prior applied knowledge of location-relevant governing, permitting, and environmental agencies
- Strong experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals
- MUST be available to work extended hours and weekends based on site operational needs
- Ability to work at elevated heights and both indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to lift 25lb and be on foot at the construction site
- Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Ability to provide on-call support in emergencies
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Ability to work onsite in Bastrop, TX (no remote considered)
- Valid driver’s license
