Job Overview
IT Network Administrator – SpaceX, Bastrop, TX, US. Full‑time, on‑site position responsible for maintaining and supporting the campus network for rocket, spacecraft, and satellite operations.
Responsibilities- Procure, configure, and install network hardware, including switches, access points, UPS, and PDUs
- Troubleshoot and resolve network‑related issues
- Plan and coordinate network outage windows with stakeholders to perform software updates, hardware refreshes, and general network maintenance
- Configure and troubleshoot network access control (NAC) and other security features
- Perform job walks with customers, vendors, and contractors to gather network requirements, and create implementation plans accordingly
- Build and maintain our IDF rooms across the campus in accordance with our network standards
- Monitor network health using in‑house and third‑party tools
- Continuously create and update network documentation
- Maintain network hardware inventory
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience in IT network administration
- Understanding of the OSI model and network standards
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Arista data center class switches
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco wireless LAN controllers or other wireless technologies
- Experience with wave division multiplexing and fiber optics
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SNMP, IP helpers, ARP, CDP, or LLDP
- Experience configuring switch port security features
- Experience with network monitoring tools
- Documentation and procedural installation skills
- Linux and Windows system administration experience
- Industry standard certifications such as CCNA or CCNP
- Must be willing to work extended hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support launch and critical project timelines
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted
