Global Supply Manager, Capital Equipment & Construction (Starlink)

Bastrop, TX

SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars, including human spaceflight, vehicle reusability, Starlink internet services, and other projects. The Supply Chain Department supports our ambitious growth targets through procurement, planning, supplier development, logistics, and inventory. This role supports construction projects and capital purchases for our construction and facilities organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive contract management process that ensures a successful project execution cycle.
  • Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department, including payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services, supporting continuous cost reduction for controllable expenditures.
  • Identify and execute cost‑reduction projects, including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and updating on progress.
  • Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure criteria such as delivery reliability, cost reduction, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Conduct research, benchmarking, and market analysis for assigned categories.
  • Create contract documents in collaboration with the legal department.
  • Manage contracts to ensure the supplier meets contractual obligations.
  • Understand interrelationships between contract terms and apply creative solutions.
  • Maximize value and cost‑savings benefits while lowering risk through strategic negotiations.
  • Identify and drive year‑over‑year cost optimization by reducing usage and eliminating waste within operations.
  • Establish preferred suppliers for assigned categories.
  • Develop and implement programs to continually improve, manage, and monitor supplier performance KPIs.
  • Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categories.
  • Lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions for assigned categories.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in one or more of the following, or 10+ years of experience:
    • Purchasing
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Construction, facilities, or industrial plant management
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Strong technical background to understand engineering language and strong business background for contracts and negotiations.
  • Experience in purchasing or similar procurement functions.
  • Experience in industrial engineering, construction management, and/or facilities management.
  • Strong budget tracking and cost‑analytical skills.
  • Extensive project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing large‑scale industrial and commercial construction projects.
  • Strong contract negotiation and document management skills.
  • Remarkable problem‑solving skills with a bias for speed.
  • Quick learner able to prioritize to meet customer and company needs.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in current technologies and applications such as MS Office, SQL, PowerBI.
  • Ability to conduct all activities with the highest degree of integrity.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Position is based in Bastrop, TX and requires onsite presence.
