SOURCING MANAGER (STARLINK AVIATION)

SpaceX is developing the technologies needed to make human life on Mars a reality. The Starlink Aviation team is building in‑flight connectivity solutions for aircraft that connect to the Starlink constellation and deliver an outstanding customer experience. As the Sourcing Manager, you will manage the supply chain for Starlink products across a broad range of airframes and enterprise platforms, collaborating with engineering, finance, legal, and external suppliers to maintain a robust and competitive supply base.

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, understanding their needs and consulting to craft procurement strategies aligned to business requirements.
• Act as a trusted advisor, encouraging engineering to make design decisions that support a high‑performing supply plan.
• Lead make‑vs‑buy decisions for new products and implement the strategy throughout the product lifecycle from development and qualification to first‑article runs and stable production.
• Manage contracts to ensure suppliers meet obligations, including expediting and responding quickly to demand changes.
• Maintain accurate master data in MRP, partnering with cross‑functional teams to ensure demand signal accuracy and supply balance.
• Drive initiatives aligned with the Supplier Scorecard and key performance indicators such as PO acknowledgement, on‑time delivery, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
• Coordinate with engineering and quality to execute supplier quality improvements, cost reductions, and lead‑time reductions.
• Conduct supplier analysis to develop a sourcing plan that identifies new suppliers, optimizes cost structures, and ensures supply continuity.
• Implement a supplier stratification model and execute a documented supplier management playbook.
• Communicate status, risks, and mitigation actions to management, responding swiftly to changes in scope or schedule.
• Execute purchasing transactions, issue purchase orders on time, resolve invoice issues, and ensure on‑time payment.

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience in any of the following areas:
  • Engineering
  • Purchasing
  • Contract negotiation
  • Material or production planning
  • Operations or supply chain management
  • Material cost control
  • Master production scheduling
• US citizenship or other eligibility for required export controls, or ability to obtain the necessary authorizations from the Department of State.

• 3 or more years of technical procurement in electronics or mechanical commodities, preferably in aerospace.
• Experience sourcing from both international and US domestic suppliers.
• Established relationships with aircraft component vendors.
• Knowledge of raw material, machining, fabrication, PCBA, harnessing, or electro‑mechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with AS9100 and FAA requirements; experience in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience in product development (EVT), new product introduction (NPI), and mass production (MP).
• Proficiency in material management and Clear to Build (CTB) planning.
• Success on cross‑functional new product introduction projects, including costing models and negotiations.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing/planning functions.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong risk‑based decision making and problem‑solving ability.
• Detail‑oriented and self‑motivated, able to respond quickly to a fast‑moving environment.
• Demonstrated integrity in all activities.

• Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends when required.
• Prepared to travel up to 50 percent of the work week, including international travel.
• Valid driver’s license.

Pay range: $115,000 – $150,000 per year. Base salary is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary with experience, education, and job‑related knowledge.
