Machine Maintenance Supervisor (Starlink) - Bastrop, TX. Space
X is building Starlink, the world’s largest satellite constellation, to provide fast, reliable internet globally.
Space
X is looking for an experienced machine maintenance supervisor to oversee maintenance activities that support the Starlink program. The supervisor will build the team and develop processes to create a high performing maintenance department, with strong leadership, schedule management, and a fast-paced work environment.
- Build and lead a competent team of multi-skilled technicians capable of dealing with the varying process equipment supporting the build process
- Create and update PM work plans and schedules for all assets
- Support engineers/planner with establishing the type of corrective maintenance and requested completion date based on analyses of asset failure to create the PM schedule
- Partner with engineering team, staying up to date with new technology that could improve production operations
- Build a spares inventory that supports the maintenance strategy for each equipment type
- Support the scheduler to assign technicians and contractors to complete all PM schedules
- Supervise the execution of all maintenance work including emergency breakdowns and monitor progress
- Troubleshoot as needed to ensure timely completion
- Communicate progress to stakeholders during the work
- Develop and manage metrics like Uptime, OEE, and mean time to repair to inform maintenance decisions
- Verify activities have been executed as planned and confirm asset is operating within required values
- Assess residual effects and take action to prevent reoccurrence
- Provide root cause analysis reports to feedback learning and improvement opportunities to maintenance engineers and asset owners
- Assign correct skills to each situation and maintain a skills matrix for technicians, identifying training needs
- Report and maintain a daily activity log, create major breakdown reports, and manage workforce shift utilization and absences
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of professional experience in machining, maintenance, or production/manufacturing; OR 5+ years of professional experience in machining, maintenance, or production/manufacturing
- 1+ years of experience directly leading a team or project
- Degree in an engineering discipline
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production teams
- Ability to adapt to constant changing work assignments and a fast paced work environment
- Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and efficiency methods
- Must be willing to work all shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed
- Must be able to work one or more of the following shifts:
AWS B
Shift: 5:00am-5:30pm Wednesday-Saturday
AWS C
Shift: 5:00pm-5:30am Sunday-Wednesday
Split
Shift: 8:00am-8:00pm Sunday-Wednesday
Split Shift: 8:00am-8:00pm Wednesday-Saturday - Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, and other movements required to perform the job
- ITAR compliance: US citizen, permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required authorizations
