Painter
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt position
Benefits eligibility: 60 days after hire date
Full Time
Reports to: Superintendent
Job PurposeProvide painting and coating services safely, productively, and efficiently. Coordinate with superintendent, review specs and scope of work to ensure thorough and high-quality painting and coating.
Job Duties- Communicate with superintendents to determine the best plan for the project
- Assemble scaffolding as required
- Cover surfaces to keep them free of paint
- Set up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect painters from unhealthy fumes
- Prepare surfaces to be painted
- Apply primer and other sealers; mix and match paint, stain and other finishes using paintbrushes, rollers, or sprayers
- Maintain an inventory of painting supplies
- Remove old finish using scrapers, chemical compounds, or blowtorches
- Clean machines, equipment, and work areas using water, solvents, and other cleaning aids
- Follow safeguards, rules, and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
May require high school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience. Field experience and knowledge of general construction principles and painting practices. Attention to detail, initiative, and reliability. Experience working on a team and following directions.

While performing the duties, the employee will be required to stand for long periods, perform repetitive physical and mental activities, meet strict deadlines, work with others in a group or team, and work with internal and external customers or the public.
The employee will often lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work is performed outdoors on the jobsite where the employee will be exposed to extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment can be extreme.
Work HoursWork hours are generally a regular work week of 40+ hours; exact hours may vary as required.
