Full-time

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

As an Electrical Control Panel Builder, you will build the electrical systems that power and control our tunnel boring machines and supporting equipment. You will work directly from engineering designs to transform electrical components, wire, and enclosures into reliable control systems used in some of the most advanced tunneling machines in the world. This is a hands-on opportunity to directly contribute to hardware that is changing the future of transportation and infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and wire industrial electrical control panels, junction boxes, and enclosures according to electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
  • Install and terminate components including circuit breakers, relays, contractors, terminal blocks, power supplies, PLC hardware, variable frequency drives, and network devices
  • Perform point-to-point wiring, cable routing, labeling, crimping, soldering, and torque verification while maintaining clean and organized panel layouts
  • Inspect and test completed panels using electrical test equipment to identify wiring errors, continuity issues, shorts, and component defects
  • Work directly with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot builds, document discrepancies, and implement design or production changes
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience assembling, wiring, or testing industrial electrical control panels or similar electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, crimpers, wire strippers, torque tools, and digital multimeters
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles, wire sizing, grounding, and electrical component identification
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience building UL 508A industrial control panels or working to similar electrical standards
  • Experience with PLCs, variable frequency drives, motor controls, industrial communication networks, and low-voltage control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting control panels through continuity checks, insulation testing, and powered functional testing
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing, prototype, or research and development environment
  • Familiarity with electrical quality documentation, redlines, engineering change orders, and production work instructions
