Texas Oncology is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Bastrop, Kyle, and San Marcos locations. This PRN role will support a clinic with the hours of Monday - Friday (hours 8:30am-5pm) and no weekends, calls, or major holidays.

This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the PRN RN do?

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. The RN demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, developmental, and age‑specific differences in the patient population. They collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient/family needs and support the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history; assess patient/family needs, provide teaching and instructional material; offer psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care:
    • Manage medication refill requests from the pharmacy phone line and record the information in the patient chart.
    • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments.
    • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the chart.
    • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
    • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Interprofessional collaboration:
    • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
Qualifications
  • Level 1: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred); RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing; 0‑3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology; current BLS certification.
  • Level 2 (additional to Level
    1):
    3‑5 years nursing experience; oncology certification preferred.
  • Level Sr (additional to Level 1 and
    2):
    Five years nursing experience.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination; standing and walking for extensive periods; occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lbs; requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
