Maintenance Worker, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

The Maintenance Worker 2 performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

• Assist in the installation of new equipment.
• Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and/or other personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Follow the preventative maintenance schedule.
• Train Level 1 Maintenance personnel.
• Perform machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gearboxes, running threaded piping, running welded piping, overhauling pumps, replacing packing shaft seals on cookers and pumps, welding, and using cutting torch.
• Conduct daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment.
• Diagnose and replace equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installations.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Use assigned personal protective equipment and observe all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings and may serve on the Safety Committee.
• Perform any other duties assigned.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1–2 years of demonstrated work experience that includes:
• Operating a forklift.
• Performing welding and piping.

• Vocational school training preferred.
• 2 years’ experience with rendering or similar equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
• Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick as well as vertical and overhead.
• Proficiency in control power electric.
• General mechanical aptitude; ability to diagnose and repair problems with motors and other equipment.
• Good math skills; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends and be on call as needed.
